THE ROLE OF ISLAMIC SPIRITUAL EXTRACURRICULAR IN SHAPING RELIGIOUS CHARACTER AND PREVENTING STUDENTS' CYBERBULLYING BEHAVIOR

Abstract

The rapid advancement of information technology, while yielding positive contributions to the educational sphere, introduces novel challenges, notably the pervasiveness of cyberbullying among adolescents. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic Spiritual extracurricular activities (Rohis) in cultivating students' religious character and serving as a preventive framework against cyberbullying behavior. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with Rohis advisors, executive committees, and active members, supplemented by observations of digital activities and program documentation. The findings indicate that Rohis plays a pivotal role through three primary strategies: internalizing the values of akhlakul karimah (noble character) within routine Islamic study sessions, establishing peer monitoring frameworks within digital spaces, and leveraging social media platforms for positive dawah content campaigns. Through the reinforcement of piety, social empathy, and awareness of digital ethics (digital akhlak), students actively engaged in Rohis exhibit high resistance to cyberbullying behaviors and demonstrate the capacity to act as agents of peace within virtual school environments. This study concludes that institutional reinforcement of religious extracurriculars effectively mitigates digital juvenile delinquency.
